We are Wild about Reading!
Our mission is to develop lifelong readers and effective users of information.
Media Center Policies and Procedures
Our media center is open for all students each school day. Students may come to the media center for book check-out, research and silent reading throughout the day with permission from their teacher. Students may check out one book at a time. We do not charge fines for overdue books; however, students are unable to check out a new book until the late book is returned. If a book is damaged or lost, it must be paid for before check-out privileges resume. Reference books are reserved for use only in the media center in order to be readily accessible to students, teachers and staff members.

Cell Phones and Ink Cartridges
Recycling is good for the environment and great for our Media Center!
Send old cell phones and used ink cartridges to the Media Center with your student and we will recycle these items for book money.
Magazine and gift purchases can earn money for our school, too. Anytime you subscribe or renew a subscription to a magazine, please make your purchase through this Great American Opportunities website on our media center web page.

ROAR stands for Recognized Officially As Remarkable. The ROAR Club is an exciting way to instill in your student "Lion Pride" and a sense of ownership in the Lake Joy Elementary Media Center. When your child has done something to ROAR about, celebrate by placing a book in the library in their honor. Fill out a ROAR Club order form describing a book that reflects your child's interests or personality. Most books, ordered with library bindings, cost around $15. Attach your check to the form and return both to the media center. A book will be ordered and labeled with a name plate. Your child will be called to the media center on their special day and will be the first to check out the new book. The ROAR Club allows you to honor your child while providing a legacy of learning for each student at the new Lake Joy Elementary School.
Things to ROAR about: birthdays, homeruns, good grades, touchdowns and recitals. It takes about six weeks to receive a book order, so be sure to plan ahead. Also, consider honoring a teacher or administrator through the ROAR Club. Let's keep those Lake Joy Lions reading!
Our Media Center receives 10 cents for every box top that we collect! All of those dimes add up to new books for our students. Save your box tops and send them to school on the monthly collection dates. For more information on Box Tops for Education visit: http://www.boxtops4education.com/AboutBoxTops/
